A Twenty-Nine Year History in Our Community
Music South, originally the South Alabama Symphony
Association, or SASA, was formed in 1979. The primary goal of the
Association is to provide the Wiregrass community with quality
cultural and educational musical experiences for area children and
adults.
Since 1979, the South Alabama Symphony Association has evolved, from
strictly presenting symphony concerts to featuring a wide range of
quality musical performances, from symphony
and jazz to Music By Moonlight at Landmark Park. As the Association evolved, it was felt a
new name would better represent its broader mission. In 2000, the
Association name was changed
to Music South.
Bringing music to life.
Today
Music South’s focus continues to be music education for school
children, combined with special season events for adults. Every year
since its inception, Music South has either presented free children’s
concerts in the Dothan Civic Center or has taken educational programs
directly into the Dothan and Houston County schools.
It is through the generous support of the community
and the hard working board and volunteers of Music South that these programs have
continued for over 25 years and can continue each year.
Please join us for our upcoming season.
With your support Music South can continue to offer quality musical
presentations for all in the Wiregrass, especially our children. |
